Iowa City Block Party Blitz and Bullet Chess Tournament

Saturday June 27th 2026

US Chess Rated 5 round double swiss G/5, D2, players tied for first will then compete in a 2 round bullet double Swiss G1 No Delay to determine the champion.

Non US Chess Rated tournament also held concurrently for non US Chess Members

Where:  In front of the Clock Tower Parking Ramp, 7 S. Linn St, Iowa City, IA 52240 YES WE ARE PLAYING IN THE STREET!

Reg: 3:15pm to 3:45pm onsite

Rounds: 4:00pm then as soon as possible until Approx. 5:30pm then the   players tied for first will start the Bullet Chess Finals

Entry Fee: Free (must be US Chess Member for championship section)

Prize Info:  Trophy for first place, $10 gift cards given as raffle prizes.

US Chess Federation (USCF) membership required:  NOT AVAILABLE ONSITE. 

Additional Info:   Boards and clocks will be provided.  Bring your own clock if possible. Tents present to protect from sun and rain.  Will be playing outside.  Failure to be present for any round will cause loss and withdrawal from tournament, talk to TD onsite for re-entry.  Boards and pieces will be set up for casual play.  Unrated tournament also available for non US Chess Members.
