Format: 4-round Swiss Style tournament

Time Controls: G/25 with 5 second delay

Two Sections:

  • Open (1400 and up)
  • U1400 (1399 and under)

      *Players with 100 points of rating floor of a higher section may play up for an additional $5

Important:

  • All sections USCF dual-rated (Quick and Regular Rating)
  • USCF membership required (may join or renew here: Join USCF or renew or on site)
  • Jan 2026 USCF Regular and/or Quick ratings (the higher of the two) will be used for section eligibility, pairings, and prize eligibility. The decision of the Chief Tournament Director regarding eligibility, rating adjustments, conversions, unofficial ratings, or other rating issues are final.
  • A maximum of two half-point byes are available. Half-point byes for rounds 1-2 must be requested no later than 30 minutes before the start of tournament. Half-point byes for rounds 3-4 must be requested before the start of round 2. Any byes requested may not be revoked after round 2 starts.
  • Boards, sets, clocks, scoresheets, and writing utensils will be provided for all sections.

 

Prizes:

  • Open:   1st -- 25%, 2nd -- 15%, 3rd -- 10% Cash Prizes
    • If number of players is less than 5 per section, then 1st place is awarded 50% (No prize for 2nd and 3rd)
    • If number of players is less than 9 per section, then 1st place is awarded 30%, 2nd is awarded 20% (No price for 3rd)
  • Open:   1st -- 25%, 2nd -- 15%, 3rd -- 10% Cash Prizes
    • If number of players is less than 5 per section, then 1st place is awarded 50% (No prize for 2nd and 3rd)

  • U1400: 1st, 2nd, 3rd -- Trophy

      *   Participants can choose to redeem cash prizes for cash or credit to go to future tournament entry

      *   Sections may be combined for the purpose of pairing (due to low player turnout per section), however, prizes are still calculated and divided up per performance in individual section. 

Schedule: Round times -> Rd 1: 10:00 AM, Rd 2: 11:05 AM, Rd 3: 12:10 PM, Rd 4: 1:15 PM

Entry Fees: $25.00 by Wed, Apr 15th; $30.00 by Thur, Apr 16th; $35.00 on-site Sat, Apr 18th

Online Registration: Chess Emporium Saturday Swiss G/25
Online registration is available until 9:30 AM MST Sat, Apr 18th.
On-site registration is until 9:45 AM on Apr 18th.
Late on-site registration is available with half-point byes for any rounds that are missed.

Refunds: Refunds may be requested until one hour before the start of round 1. No refunds will be given after that time. All refunds will incur a 5% processing fee.
