Train Depot, East Room

430 N Main St El Dorado, KS 67042

Prologue:

I personally dislike waking up hours before I normally would to make the long drive to a chess tournament that starts early in the morning, playing for 6-8 hours, and drive back. And I sure as heck am not paying for pet boarding and a hotel on top of the entry fee. What an exhausting mess. If you can relate to that, then boy do I have the event for you!

Tournament:

Format: Quads. Up to four groups of four players in a round-robin. 3 rounds total.

Time Control: g/45; d5.

Registration: Register online before 11:59PM on 03/12. Venue opens at 11AM

Round timings: Round 1 pairings at 11:50AM  Rounds: 12:01 - 1:45 - 3:30.

Registered players must arrive before pairings at 11:50AM or give director notice of late arrival. Failure to arrive on time or give notice of tardiness will result in automatic withdrawal.

No byes may be requested. Please come prepared to play all three rounds. If you aren't sure you can make it, please withdraw early to give someone else the chance for a seat.

Registration And Fees:

There are only 16 seats available due to space constraints. Registrations are first-come, first-serve. You are required to check in before first round pairings or you will lose your seat. There are only three rounds, so I'm not going to make someone sit at an empty board on the off-chance you do show up late.

All games will be rated by the United States Chess Federation. (Regular and Quick)

All players must be members of the United States Chess Federation.

KCA membership not required.

Entry Fee: $0. Donations welcome but not required.

Sections:

There will be 1 section available to register in, but players will be sorted into sections of four players the day of the event. Section 1 will have the top four rated players, then the second will have the next highest group of four, and so on.

If the registered players cannot form a multiple of four and the last section has 3 players available, the director will enter himself into the appropriate quad for his rating to ensure everyone gets a full quad.

If the registered players plus director cannot form a multiple of four, the bottom two quads will be merged and ran as a 3-round swiss. In that case, the director reserves rights to use accelerated pairings if deemed necessary for better pairings. Director may enter himself if necessary for better pairings.

Equipment:

Boards, pieces, and clocks will all be provided by the director. Do not bring your own.
