In recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month this September, all net tournament proceeds and donations will support Garfield Health Center's healthcare services for underserved men in the San Gabriel Valley.

Carrying forward the spirit of last year’s Chess for Cure SoCal, which promoted women’s health awareness, a “Top Woman Player” will be awarded in all sections to inspire our female players.

Let’s rally our pieces to protect the King and promote community health.

$10,000 Prizes (based on 190 Main Event entries):

  • Open (FIDE): $1500 (Plaque) - 1000 - 700 - 400; U2200 $400 - 200; Top Woman: $400
  • U2000 (FIDE): $1000 - 600 - 400 - 300; Top U1800: $300; Top Woman: $300
  • U1700: $600 - 400 - 200; Top U1500: $200; Top Woman: $200
  • U1400: $400 - 200 - 100; Top U1200: $100; Top Woman: $100
  • Scholastic sections (K-12 Open, K-9 U1000, K-6 U600): Top 5 & Top Girl Trophy each section

Format/Time Control:

  • Open/U2000/U1700/U1400: 5 rounds (Rd 1 G/60; d5; Rds. 2-5 G/90; +30); Rd 1 not FIDE rated in Open/U2000.
  • Scholastic: Saturday only - 5 rounds (G/30; d5).

  • Pairings based on September 2026 regular supplemental USCF rating.

Rounds Times:

  • Open/U2000/U1700/U1400: Saturday 10am - 1pm - 6pm; Sunday 9am - 2pm.
  • Scholastic: Saturday 10am - 11:15am - 1pm - 2:15pm - 3:30pm. Awards 5pm.

Entry Fee:

  • Open/U2000/U1700/U1400: $110 by 9/1, $130 by 9/15, $150 after or onsite.
  • GM/IM Free Entry ($110 deducted from any prize).
  • Scholastic: $50 by 9/1, $70 by 9/15, $90 after or onsite.
  • Play Up: +$20, must be within 100 points of the higher section’s minimum. Fee waived if peak rating within the last 12 months meets this minimum.
  • Re-entry: $50 (Main Event only).

Byes: Max 2 (1/2 pt each), must commit before Round 3.

Onsite entries close at 9am. Check-in at 9:15am. Opening ceremony at 9:30am.
