March 2026 Monthly Prize Tournament

Open to all players, regardless of US Chess or HRCA membership status.   This will not be a rated event.   Tournament begins at 6:30PM on March 9, 2026.   

 
All players must be registered and paid through King Registration no later than 6:15PM on 3/9 .   No Byes.   Late arrivals will forfeit first round as a loss.  Minimum of 4 players are required.   If minimum # is not reached, entries will be deferred to the following month's tournament or a credit issued for the standard entry fee for another HRCA event.   
 
Location:  Peninsula Satellite Chess Club (PSCC) - 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA
 
Entry Fee:  $15 in advance, $18 on site (6:00-6:15PM)
 
Refunds:  No cash refunds. Credit for standard entry will be issued for any withdrawals before 6:15PM via a coupon code which is valid for any HRCA tournament on King Registration for 1 calendar year.  No-shows and withdrawals after 6:15PM are not eligible for credit.  
 
Time Controls:  4 rounds of G/15; d3  (If 6 or less players, 3 rounds of G/20; d5)
 
Pairings:  Players paired at random,  subsequent rounds are ASAP. 
 
Prizes:  Monetary Prizes based on entries for 1st and 2nd place, and Top Unrated/U1200.   50% of standard entry fees collected will make up prize totals for event.  All payouts will be sent electronically to winner via Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, or Zelle.  Prize winners must provide their payment method preference and contact information onsite.  Prizes are usually paid out within 24-48 hours of the event.   Cumulative prize payments of $600 or more each calendar year is reportable to IRS and requires issue of a 1099-MISC. 
 
Organizer reserves the right to change the prize distribution based on number of players, and to set "Under Prizes" (if any) based on rating balance.  TD Reserves the right to use the player's highest rating (current or published) and/or assign an unrated player a rating. Accelerated pairing may be used.
