Shepherdstown Open II

Format: 4SS, G/30 d5 (4-round Swiss; Game in 30 minutes with a 5 second delay per move.)

Byes: Can request  a 1/2-point bye on registration. 

Rounds start at: 1030am and subsequent rounds occur 5 minutes after the last game ends. (Lunch is approximately from, 11:45-12:35)

Sections (2): Open, Unrated.

Open Section:

• Entry Fee: $25

• Prizes: ($275 B/25) $100-$75; Top U2000/UNR, Top U1200: $50

Unrated Section:

• Entry Fee: $5 
• Prize: 1st place = 1 year of USCF membership
• Maximum Players Allowed: 16

Location Info: Shepherd University - Student Center. Cumberland Room. (The room is on the 2nd floor.)

Shepherd Students: Free entry. Please email or show up early on day for free entry. Emails should come from rams.shepherd.edu with name and section for prompt preregistration.

Notice: Chess sets and notation sheets are provided. Limited number of clocks at site. All entries within a USCF rated section count for based on prizes. Possible promotional photography will be taken for the Shepherdstown Chess Club. At the tournament director’s discretion, player section pairing, the number of sections, and/or section rating ranges may be modified on the day of the event.  

Tie Breaks (in order of use): Buchholz Median, Buchholz Total, (Sum of) Progressive Scores, Average of Opponents' Buchholz
