Cincinnati Scholastic Chess presents the Summer Hybrid Chess Series during the summer of 2026, for players in
grades K–12, including recent graduates.
This Hybrid Series comprises four online events and four in-person (over the board) tournaments.

Online events will be played on www.chess.com and will NOT affect USCF ratings. USCF membership is NOT required to participate in any online tournament.
In-person tournaments will be played in the Blue Ash Shelter at the Blue Ash Nature Park and will include rated and non-rated sections. For the rated section(s), current USCF membership is required, and USCF Quick ratings will be used. For the non-rated section(s) USCF membership is NOT required. Players in a non-rated section will not earn a USCF rating.
All tournaments are 4-round Swiss tournaments.

Saturday, May 30 – IN-PERSON event #1 at 1:00 pm*
Thursday, June 4 – ONLINE event #1 at 2:00 pm
Friday, June 12 – IN-PERSON event #2 at 5:00 pm*
Wednesday, June 17 – ONLINE event #2 at 6:00 pm
Tuesday, June 23 – ONLINE event #3 at 6:00 pm
Monday, July 6 – IN-PERSON event #3 at 5:00 pm*
Monday, July 13 – ONLINE event #4 at 2:00 pm
Sunday, July 19 – IN-PERSON event #4 at 1:00 pm*
The time control for all IN-PERSON events is G/20;d2 (20 minutes with a 2-second delay)
The time control for all ONLINE events is G/10;+3 (10 minutes with a 3-second increment)
*If you will not play in an in-person event, you must notify us by email to info@chesscincinnati.com at least one hour prior to the event starting time. If a player does not show up for an in-person event and did not notify us as indicated here, we will reduce his or her trophy score by one point.
Trophy details
Trophies are personalized with the winner’s name and delivered (in Southwest Ohio) by Dr. Brackenridge. Your best five scores from all eight events count toward a trophy; the highest possible score is 5 Î 4 = 20. Players qualify for different levels of trophies as follows:
Platinum Level: cumulative score of 18.0 or higher
Gold Level: cumulative score of 16.0–17.5
Silver Level: cumulative score of 14.0–15.5
Bronze Level: cumulative score of 12.0–13.5
Entry
Register using the Register button on this site. The entry fee is $88 through April 30 and $104 thereafter. The entry fee covers the entire 8-event series, and there are no refunds or discounts for any event missed. You must enter the Series by noon on the day before the first event in which you wish to participate. Registration is limited to 120 players! Registration will stay open until there are 120 entries.
